What others are saying about the program:

“YTT! What an incredible life altering journey this was! I went in with very little expectation. During this training, I have gotten so connected to myself mentally, physically, and spiritually. We were blessed to have two of the most inspiring teachers lead us through this path of self discovery. Yoga teacher training is such a gift, whether you want to teach or not. There is so much to be grateful for in this life and this training had widened my eyes to the beauty that surrounds us. Yoga is for everyone. Take the leap!!!!”  ~ Laurie Collins

“White Pine Yoga’s Teacher Training program is life changing. If you’re at all considering joining Shannon and Pete on this journey – stop thinking and DO!!!!”  ~ Erin Norris

“The second I read the advertisement for White Pine Yoga TT, I knew that I wanted to be a part of it. I had a strong desire to deepen my yoga practice with a view to connecting mind, body and spirit. I have been dealing with a debilitating disease for the past several years and found yoga to be a great way to get to know my body as it is now. At first I wasn’t sure that I’d be a good fit for YTT, but after a conversation with Shannon, any concerns I had were alleviated. I decided to make the commitment. The very first day I knew I was in a safe, non judgemental place surrounded by a group of yogis that would soon become deeply connected. I had no idea the places we would be going, looking deep within ourselves. I soon realized only a small part of yoga happens on our mats and that the real work is learning to live our yoga off of our mats. I leave this training with a sense of inner peace and contentment and a knowing that everything is exactly as it should be. Peter and Shannon live their yoga and lead by example ~ they are the real deal! I feel such gratitude to them for providing this life changing experience and highly recommend YTT at White Pine Yoga.”  ~ Cindy Roach

“WPY’s Yoga Teacher Training Program is awesome. I would recommend it to new and experienced yogis alike, whether you want to teach or just deepen your personal practice. If you want more love and kindness in your life, Pete and Shannon will lead you there by example.”  ~ Julia Lavery

“White Pine Yoga Teacher Training turned out to be a great gift to myself. It was so interesting, challenging, rewarding and inspiring. If you’re thinking about it, open up and go for it! I’m am very grateful to have shared this training with Pete, Shannon, the guest instructors, and the others that trained with me.” – Penny Neal

“I am very thankful for the opportunity to grow in so many ways through the White Pine Yoga instructor training program and I highly recommend this training to anyone who is thinking about it. Initially I had no intention of teaching; I just love yoga and was excited to learn from two of my favourite instructors. I expected to grow physically but it was much more than I imagined. The training had a positive impact both on and off the mat. Shannon and Pete fostered a safe and open environment in which we were all comfortable with starting where we were at physically, mentally and emotionally. Even though I started the course with little confidence that I would be ready to teach, by the end I am not only ready but I am also excited about it”  ~ Jill Lazarus

“White Pine Yoga’s TT has brought about so many positive changes in my life. It’s more than just learning and teaching an asana (posture) practice. It will change you. You will get to know yourself really well, along with the not so positive patterns you engage in. The TT has brought clarity to my life and helped me break free from some of these habitual thinking patterns and limiting beliefs. Now I look for the beautiful possibilities in every day. I started out thinking that I would never teach but by the end, I felt so ready and excited about teaching yoga to others. You will be ready by the end of the training. I feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to study with Shannon and Pete.”  ~ Michelle Optis

“When I enrolled in White Pine Yoga’s YTT, I knew that our time together would be life-changing, but I had absolutely no idea as to what magnitude. Starting this journey with solely an Asana (posture) background, this initially seemed like a steep learning curve for me. Pete and Shannon lovingly opened their arms & their hearts to us and nurtured us through our challenges, our triumphs, through the laughter, and a few tears. Pete and Shannon are not only exceptional Yogis, they are devoted leaders. I am SO grateful that my first TT was under their nurturing yogi wings. As a Personal Trainer, a Nutritional Wellness Coach, and now Yoga teacher, I am so excited to give back and share all that this journey has offered to me. This TT has not only taught me how to be a Yoga Teacher, but more importantly how to also deepen my own daily practice so I can truly become that which I am teaching. A heartfelt THANK YOU Shannon & Pete!!!”  ~Mel Cyba-Ambrose

“When I was young, I believed anything was possible. When I danced by myself, I was going to be in the Bolshoi and when I skated on the outdoor rink, I was going to be an Olympian. Then I grew up, real life took over. Little by little I lost my dreams and as I became busy with the minutia of life, I forgot what my heart’s desire was… I knew from the first time that I was bathed in Shannon’s words of self-acceptance, love and challenge (as we were letting gravity and relaxation work in Yin), that I wanted to know what she knew. Then meeting Pete, and being inspired by ideas of the universe, reality and me, my life was transformed. My personal practice, the reason for which I registered, has blossomed into a wonderfully renewed and satisfying experience. My circle of like-minded friends has multiplied ten-fold. Pete and Shannon opened my heart to the treasure that was inside and the possibilities outside. With their loving and deeply moving words and activities, they have helped me take the time to really explore what was there all along, but what I had wrapped in layers of business, and disappointment. All this and practicing Yoga (asana) too! Truly, I cannot more highly recommend Shannon and Peter as teachers and their teacher training programme as a way to discover and challenge oneself physically, mentally and spiritually. I cannot wait to share what I’ve learned with others, and to begin this new phase of my teaching career.” ~ Cheryl St-Elier

Teacher Training FAQs

Do I have to be a really advanced yogi to take a teacher training?

Can you take a deep breath? Can you make it to class on time? Are you willing to pay attention to your thoughts and feelings? Are you willing to explore your body through movement and posture? Are you interested in learning about the more subtle and profound aspects of the practice? If yes, then you are ready for this TT!

Most everyone who has taken the leap and registered for their first Teacher Training has wondered if they are good enough, fit enough, mature enough, young enough, flexible enough, strong enough etc.  The answer is a resounding YES!!! The practice and the teachings meet us where we are and you’re ready to train the moment you believe you are! As long as you can show up on time and are willing to put in the work for this LIFE CHANGING journey ~ you are so very welcome to join us.

Is this program approved by Yoga Alliance?

Yes. White Pine Yoga Centre is a Registered Yoga School with Yoga Alliance and our 200hr YTT program has been approved by Yoga Alliance. Upon successfully completing the training, you will be eligible for certification with Yoga Alliance at the YTT 200 level.

Will I be able to teach at White Pine Yoga Centre once I’m certified?

This decision is made on an individual basis, as needed. We select teachers based on a number of factors including commitment to personal practice, commitment to the yoga community, level of knowledge and skill, personality and mostly importantly who we believe will be of greatest benefit to our students. While we cannot guarantee a teaching position, we are always looking for teachers who show great skill and dedication in teaching yoga and who are committed to sharing with others their  knowledge and experience of yoga practice.

How can I prepare for this program?

Dive deep, now! Practice regularly and attend as many classes as possible prior to the training. Study all things yogic. Get excited and stay excited!!!! You’ll be ready 😉

I have an injury/condition which impedes my mobility. Am I still eligible to take this training and how will it affect my participation?

A pre-existing injury or physical limitation doesn’t necessarily preclude you from being eligible to take this training. Depending on the extent and nature of the injury or limitation, we would ask that you communicate with us as well as with your primary care givers ahead of time so that together we can determine how this might affect your ability to participate in and get the most out of the program. Please know that everything that has happened in your life, positive or negative, plays a role in your development as a teacher and all life experiences, including injuries and ailments, often pave the way to becoming a more compassionate and knowledgeable guide to your students.

I am pregnant, can I attend the training?

Every pregnancy is unique and we suggest consulting with your health care practitioner first. However, if a regular yoga practice was part of your routine before the pregnancy, and you are not considered a “high risk” pregnancy, it is usually safe to continue with the same level of practice while modifying certain postures to fit the need of your changing body. In fact, Shannon did her first Teacher Training when she was pregnant with her first child and it was glorious!

I wish to participate in the teacher training to deepen my practice, but I am not interested in becoming a teacher, is this training right for me?

You betcha! Many people simply want to deepen their knowledge of the practice and there is no better way than immersing yourself in a yoga teacher training.

Do you have a payment plan?

You are welcome to pay a 50% deposit at the time of registration, due in full the day the training begins. However, to receive an Early Bird Discount, you must pay in full before either of the respective Early Bird deadlines.

Refund Policy for 200hr YTT:
